Daniel is prophetic teaching, primarily linking in with the book of revelations. Unfortunately the Templars dismiss revelation as too hard to understand, and therefore live in wilfull ignorance.

sorry, God promised the land to the Jews. Gods promises do not expire and are always kept. Most Jews are not christian, yes, but that means nothing. In the end they will turn to Jesus. They are Gods people and christians should always back and support them, with their conversion at the forefont of their minds.
Israel is still intricately woven into Gods plans for the future, denial of this goes against God and the bibles teaching. Romans 11 explains this thoroughly.
